It is reported that through the accurate anatomical structure identification, dissociation and resection of Da Vinci robot, the operator can not only completely and safely remove the lesions in the patient’s lung, but also retain most of the lung function of the patient’s right lower lobe. With the help of Da Vinci robot, Zhu Yuming accurately located the nodule and completed a detailed segmental pneumonectomy for Xiao Fei. Now, he has been discharged smoothly and recovered well after operation. Most importantly, half of Xiaofei’s lower right lobe has to be preserved, reducing the impact on pulmonary function.

It is reported that in the 10 months since the Da Vinci robotic surgery was carried out in the Pulmonary Hospital, the total number of operations has been close to 500. At present, the hospital basically popularizes single hole Da Vinci robotic thoracic surgery (of which, more than two-thirds of the cases have single hole incision), which is the operation with the least number of patient incision in Da Vinci robotic thoracic surgery in China. "Accurate surgery makes patients’ postoperative wounds smaller and smaller. We hope to reduce the physiological and psychological burden of patients through the power of science and technology." Zhu Yuming added that in terms of cost, although the single charge of robot surgery is higher, due to less postoperative complications, the total number of days in hospital and postoperative medication are also relatively reduced.
